Valeant Pharmaceuticals has over 20 years of experience in dermatology, and their Kinerase line features a common key ingredient—kinetin, a gentle yet effective plant-based extract—that they claim visibly improves signs of aging and sun-damaged skin. I tried several products, but I was especially keen to test their Under-Eye Rescue.
The Brightening Anti-Aging System, which includes unusual ingredients such as Flamenco Pearl Extract and kudzu, is meant to improve the appearance of discoloration and dark spots. It includes a facial serum and a Concentrated Spot Treatment that comes in an easy pen-style applicator. After three weeks of use, I did notice moderately dark spots beginning to fade. This product seemed effective and well worth its $140 price tag.
I was very intrigued by the Extreme Face-Lift, hawked as “THE alternative to physician administered injectables,” and “immediate lifting results.” It contains Green Tea ECO/Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, a powerful antioxidant due to its catechin content. According to the National Cancer Institute website: “As potential chemopreventive agents, catechins scavenge free radicals…” The Kinerase website states that it is “clinically proven to tighten skin and smooth fine lines and wrinkles in 5 minutes.” Sadly, I saw no visible, immediate results. While I imagine it has beneficial effects on the skin, I’m not sure there is much comparison to injectables, however, for that instant lift you might be looking for.
This is the real deal, ladies!
I really enjoy the Daily Defense Cream SPF 30. It absorbs into the skin quickly, is not greasy like many sunscreens, and combines an anti-aging treatment, sun protection and moisturizer.
Now to the real treat. The Under Eye Rescue was touted as the eye cream to the stars. Actors Eva La Rue and Virginia Madsen have used and approved them, but I’ve never depended on celebrity recommendations. In my quest for an eye cream that actually works, I have tried more products than I can count. Until I find something better, I think I have found mine! This light cream definitely reduced the puffiness under my eye a bit, and I can almost feel the skin lifting ever so slightly. It dries to a consistency that makes it easy to apply makeup without tackiness. This is the real deal, ladies!
