Interested in luxurious natural skin and hair care products that save the planet? Alba Botanica’s Rainforest line just might be for you. Not only do these products smell delicious and work great, the ingredients are from well-managed forests and certified to the standards of the Forest Stewardship Council by the Rainforest Alliance, are 100% vegetarian and never tested on animals. Just as rewarding, you don’t have to go bankrupt—the products I used ranged from $10 to $25 each!
With the change in seasons, my scalp has been unusually itchy, so I tried the Copaiba Scalp Treatment shampoo and conditioner. Copaiba resin holds anti-inflammatory properties that successfully calmed my itching. They also control dryness and flaking, but the real surprise for me was that they also left my hair shiny and full of body.
The Cupuacu Deep Hydration Body Wash was a distinctive treat. I didn’t have to use a large amount of the silky gel to work up a good lather, and my skin felt so soft and moist afterwards. I didn’t feel like I needed a lotion, but I wanted it—the Cupuacu Deep Hydration Body Lotion was simply decadent. Another favorite was the Foaming Cleanser. I’m pretty picky about facial cleansers; it’s so hard to find one like this that cleans deeply yet doesn’t dry my skin. Loved it!
The Lush Facial Cream is accurately named. Brazil Nut oil hydrates, Andiroba oil soothes and heals, and Tiger Nut extract enhances resilience. The Nighttime Rejuvenation Treatment oil contains betacarotene-rich Buriti, a skin-healing antioxidant. I felt like I was using expensive designer products, yet they were each priced below $25! And it does bear repeating—the scents are amazing! I could easily close my eyes and imagine I was somwhere tropical and very green.
The news just keeps getting better. Alba Botanica is based right here on Long Island and their products are made in the USA. Many of Rainforest’s core ingredients are Fair Trade and Certified Organic. They use plastic packaging that contains 50% post-consumer resin and paper cartons manufactured with clay-coated news back. The company gives back even more by supporting Rainforest education and sustainability through the Amazon Center for Environmental Education and Research.
