The American Heritage Science Dictionary defines “nutrition” as “the process by which living organisms obtain food and use it for growth, metabolism, and repair.” We all know good nutrition is necessary for our bodies to function at optimum capacity, so it certainly makes sense that it should apply to our skin, too. Right? But do we really think about how nutritious our skincare products are?
Skin Nutrition describes itself as “a brand leading the way in bio-active skin care, specializing in anti-aging, age reversal, and skin rejuvenation.” They employ leading-edge technology and advanced ingredients to develop skincare products that penetrate the epidermis to work from the outside-in, as well as supplements that work from the inside-out, ensuring that every ingredient is bio-compatible.
All products in Skin Nutrition’s Nutrissentials line are infused with their own proprietary blend of super-berry extracts and super-hybrid, lipid-soluble Vitamin C. I tried the gentle, non-drying Cleansing Gel infused with Opuntia Ficus Indica (Cactus Pear fruit) extract, an anti-oxidant, which, according to recent research, inhibits nerve cell damage. I particularly liked the Toner Spritz that soothes both the skin and the soul with its calming scent.
The Complexion Revitalizing Serum offers a boost of radiance, possibly from L-Arginine, which improves blood flow. The Moisturizer also includes L-Arginine, as well as Astaxanthin, another powerful anti-oxidant that has 500 times the potency of Vitamin E, and avocado and olive oils to deliver deep hydration. The Night Cream has it’s own special ingredient, too. Carnosine has become a popular ingredient in both skincare and supplements. It has been proven to slow down the glycation process, which impairs the skin’s ability to utilize all-important anti-oxidants.
The Deep Cleansing Mask detoxifies, cleansing pores as it calms and balances, with a unique spinach extract to restore essential minerals. It is a perfect pick-me-up for tired skin. Marine algae-derived Omega 3 and 6, Opuntia Ficus Indica, and Hyaluronic Acid, which helps skin hold moisture, made The Hydrating Mask another favorite; my skin felt like fresh and supple. Both these masks will be a regular part of my future skincare routine!
I, quite simply, adored these products. They all came through on their promises, giving my skin a boost in texture and tone and visibly impacting fine lines after just one week. Each product has a light, natural scent and is packaged in an easy-to-use, elegant container. I am a fan forever!
