Local restaurateur John J. Tunney, III has created the one-time charitable foundation Veterans Rock. Its aim is to raise $10 million dollars for disabled Long Island Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families by Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2009. The money will go toward retrofitting homes, counseling, prostheses, driving apparatuses, food and clothing. The foundation is asking every Long Islander to contribute $5. http://veteransrock.com.
