2010 Borgata Winter Open

The Borgata Winter Open will be held starting January 20 and ending February 5. 24 tournament events make up the Open, which is structured similar to the World Series of Poker and the World Poker Tour (which comes to the Borgata each fall). Buy-ins range from as little as $170 (plus $30 entry fee) to the $3,300 (plus $200) Championship event, with many others in the $300-$500 range. There are daily satellite tournaments for those who want to get into the big one for a smaller price tag.

The poker room at the Borgata boasts 85 tables and is a favorite poker room for Atlantic City player. The Open is held in the 70,000 sq. ft. Event Center to accommodate the large turnout.

“We are very excited to kick off 2010 with our fifth annual Borgata Winter Open, which will be the premier tournament of its kind on the East Coast,” said Joe Lupo, Senior Vice President of Operations for Borgata. “Poker has always been a main focus at Borgata and we continue to be committed to providing our customers the best experience, not just in Atlantic City, but on the East Coast. We are offering a $2 million guaranteed prize pool, launching our program in a big way, while offering our players what they want.”

The Open kicks off on January 20 with Event #1, a $350 (plus $50) buy-in Deep Stack No Limit Hold ‘em tournament. Last year’s first event drew over 1,500 players.

The Championship event, a 5-day, $3,300 buy-in (plus $200 entry fee), with a guaranteed prize pool of $2 million, starts on Jan 31. Last year’s Championship event brought in a total of 1,017 players, which generated a prize pool of over $3 million.
