Women’s Art Group Looking to Expand

Are you a female artist? Looking to connect with other artists? Interested in pushing your art in new directions? If so, Art (that matters) gallery in Oyster Bay has just the thing.

Twice a month, the gallery hosts a group of women artists who are serious about their art. In January, the group is opening their doors to new members. Important qualities to possess are a passion for your art, an ability to share thoughts and a desire to become part of a working community of artists.

The group is supportive yet challenging, said gallery founder and group originator Christine Benjamin. Through discussion, existing member have found themselves moving their artwork in new directions, taking creative chances, trying new mediums and keeping motivation steady for making art.

The Women’s Group meets the first and third Mondays of every month from 6 to 9 p.m. (Upcoming dates are January 25, February 9 and 23). Artists work in a range of mediums including photography, painting, mixed media and more. Information on some members can be found at the gallery’s website, www.artthatmatters.com.
