Cinema Arts Centre (pretty much the only movie theater on Long Island that screens independent/foreign films) in Huntington is holding a screening of the 2009 documentary “Beer Wars” on Thursday, 3/25.
The film, which explores the United States beer industry and the struggle for small craft breweries to exist in a business dominated by larger corporations, will be followed by a panel discussion and tasting with Stuart Haimes of Shoreline Beverage, Paul Dlugokencky of Blind Bat Brewery, and John Liegey and Rich Vandenburgh of Greenport Harbor Brewing Co.
I’ve yet to see the documentary myself, but a few friends of mine said it was a pretty informative look into the world of beer making and the difficulty that comes with getting your product out to the public. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend the screening, but this sounds like a real fun time.
The festivities start at 7:30PM. Get your tickets early.
