Mr. Beery’s Back Open

According to a recent Newsday article (link to the full story is below), Mr. Beery’s of Bethpage has been battling the Town of Oyster Bay since last year over “a series of code violations, including not having the proper special-use permit to offer live music.”

These code violations, which also dealt with noise complaints, rotted beams, exposed wires and other hazardous structural issues, eventually forced owner Steve Beery to shut down the popular bar for a few days in mid-April.

Luckily, Beery’s is back open, but for now, it is without live music until the special-use permit is approved by the town board. And that could take months.

If you want to support Mr. Beery’s while they fight for the right to have live music, leave some love on their Facebook page, or better yet, head down and grab a brew.
