Sal Nastasi and Marc Viola, the Lennon/McCartney of LI-based alt-rock band Ready in 10, are childhood friends who played in a cover band before founding Ready in 10.
“We played anything and everything from Frank Sinatra and Billy Joel to Nine Inch Nails and Tool to get a crowd going,” says frontman Nastasi. “It was a ton of fun, but as songwriters, we felt trapped. In 2007, Marc and I made a split from the cover band to focus on Ready In 10. But it’s still fun to throw ‘Jailhouse Rock’ or ‘Billie Jean’ into a set.”
After taking their name from a Chinese restaurant menu advertising speedy delivery, Nastasi and lead guitarist Viola recruited bassist Mike Elefante and drummer Mike Moore and formed Ready in 10. The band just released their self-produced second effort, 31 Strong, named after the address of their Babylon-based studio.
While the Beatles-inspired quartet has been compared to Bon Jovi, they have more of a Matchbox 20 sound, and would like to open for bands like Kings of Leon and the Black Crowes. So check out their CD Release party at KJ Farrell’s on Friday, June 25th. The $25 entrance fee includes an open bar from 8-10 pm, and a free copy of 31 Strong.
The Long Island natives should put on a great show, as they love to play on the island: “There’s no lack of great rooms to play in,” notes Nastasi. “We’ve been playing all over the country for the past few years, but there’s no place we’ve seen that has the amount of high-quality live music venues as we do right here on Long Island.” http://www.ReadyIn10.com/
