Some art is a live wire: Raw, energetic, threatening. Andrew Brischler, a burgeoning artist, has been making his mark with tableau that are just like this (literally, his form is mark-making). Images attempt to reconcile the mythic with emotions as they spontaneously rise to the surface. Without hinging on bitterness, the works are estimations of Brischler biting into his ghosts and negotiating with them. Viewers are introduced to figments of the artist’s history, but they will also undoubtedly find fragments of their own.
