The Aesthetic Center at the Long Island Plastic Surgical Group (LIPSG) in Garden City is a medi-spa like no other I’ve been to. It was here that I had the opportunity to experience not only one of the best facials ever, but also a relatively new technology—the VISIA® Complexion Analysis.
The Aesthetic Center occupies a portion of one of three floors devoted to the LIPSG. Martha, my esthetician and VISIA® Certified Skin Specialist, took me into a nook and introduced me to the VISIA® machine. The theory behind the use of this tool is that better diagnosis of the skin naturally leads to better treatment and care.
The computerized system captures a digital photo of your face and is able to analyze six key factors in skin health. Martha photographed the right side of my makeup free face. A serious warning here—this isn’t pretty. Like most women, I hate looking into the evil magnifying mirror and seeing every single little wrinkle. Well, this machine shows so much more!
Martha brought up the photo of my face on the computer screen and highlighted wrinkles. Every single one! Then she showed me my face, highlighting pigmentation, pore size, skin tone variations, bacterial content that can cause acne and UV spots from sun damage. This was a true revelation, seeing my face that closely and clearly, with these key factors highlighted in differentiating computerized color. That magnifying mirror was beginning to look like an old friend compared to this!
VISIA® Complexion Analysis enabled Martha to determine what type of treatments I would need. After I settled onto an incredibly-comfortable heated table, Martha used a cleanser, toner, a peel, masks, serums, hydrators and sun block from LIPSG’s own line of medical grade skincare products. She was wonderful, gently massaging my face with skilled hands. I fell asleep. While this is certainly a sign that Martha made me incredibly relaxed, I always hate to miss even one second of a talented esthetician’s ministrations.
VISIA® Complexion Analysis can be used repeatedly to ascertain the results of the chosen line of treatment and to guide future treatments. This is especially helpful for people with rosacea or other skin conditions, not simply aging issues.
