Thanks to the efforts of Executive Director Pamela A. Green and her team, the Kent Animal Shelter in Calverton has been named the 2009 Shelter of the Year, an accolade of national scope. This award is given by Purina, North Shore Animal League America and Dog Fancy magazine. Founded in 1968, Kent is a no-kill shelter specializing in helping abused, abandoned and homeless animals.
