NY Craft Beer Week

NY Craft Beer Week

NY Craft Beer Week is almost upon us!

Well, almost upon you. I’m still in Belgium—Gent, specifically—and won’t be in the United States for what should be a week (9/24 – 10/3) of sick beer being pouring out from every possible orifice in and surrounding the city (that doesn’t mean you should drink from every orifice, mind you).

Even though Super Neat Beer Adventure, Yes!! won’t be there for the festivities, there will still be a strong Long Island presence scattered throughout the itinerary. Here are some ways to catch our local pride during NY Craft Beer Week:

Fire Island Beer Company Pairing Dinner – Friday, 9/24 – Thursday, 9/30:
3 course pairing at Village Pourhouse with the homies from Fire Island. Includes their brand new Pumpkin Barrel Ale. Reservations required on some evenings (like 9/29, when the dinner is also paired with a sommelier-led tasting beforehand).

Long Island City Craft Beer Festival – Saturday, 9/25
2nd Annual LIC craft event, with 2 sessions (begins at 12:30PM/5:30PM), 25 breweries, and 50 beers. Catch local breweries Fire Island, Southampton, Long Ireland, Barrier, Blue Point and Greenport for only $45.

Blue Point & The NY GMEN – Sunday, 9/26:
Football Sunday with Blue Point brews, wings, and DA GMEN! Mudville9 (Tribeca).

Meet the Brewer: Southampton Publick House’s Phil Markowski – Thursday, 9/30:
Share oysters and beer at Jimmy’s No. 43 with Southampton’s head brewer from 6:00PM – 8:00PM. Free event, so why not?

Meet the Brewer: Greenport Harbor Brewing Co.’s DJ Swanson & John Ligely – Saturday, 10/02:
Same as Southampton, except with Greenport Harbor. This one is an afternooner from 2:00PM – 6:00PM (still free).

Check out the official website at the link above for the complete events list. Lots of amazing stuff going on.

DRINK LOCAL (AND THEN SOME)!
