Tap that as…er…lager!
Official tapping of Southampton Publick House’s 2010 Oktoberfest Lager this Friday evening, as part of a three course dinner of traditional German fare (includes one 12 oz. pour of 2009’s Okt Lag, as well).
I have never tasted Southampton’s Oktoberfest Lager personally, but here are two reviews of a past year’s batch, courtesy of BeerAdvocate members hopdog (1) and plaid75 (2):
1) “Poured a medium to deeper amberish color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of bread, toasted grains, and some caramel. Tastes of the same toastiness, grains, and caramel. Definitely on the sweeter side.”
2) “Poured a medium amber hue with a wispy thin bubbly head. The smell featured a solid and robust raw grain with a touch of aromatic noble hop. The taste was also robust and grainy with an excellent biscuity malt and flavorful noble hop. Really a very authentic and not overly caramel sweet Oktoberfest. The mouthfeel was full and very dry. Overall an excellent and seemingly authentic to the style Oktoberfest. Very drinkable and highly recommended.”
More reviews on past Oktoberfest can be read on BeerAdvocate’s official profile page located here.
Price for Friday’s celebration is $24.95 per person, plus tax and gratuity.
Reservations are recommended.
