October picks for 92.9 & 96.9 WEHM New Release Tuesdays with Harry Wareing (airing every Tuesday night from 9-10pm) are a gaggle of modern artists who really hit their stride at the beginning of the 00s.

Prolific singer/songwriter Donavon Frankenreiter has come out with the album Glow and the song of the same name. In this tune he produces an interesting blend of African rhythms and Hawaiian ukulele textures on guitar along with heartfelt lyrics.

Always-original rocker KT Tunstall is back with Tiger Suit and the track “Fade Like a Shadow.” While the core of her sound—acoustic-like rhythm guitar—is present, there is interesting layering with classical accents and her trademark passionate vocals.

The Grande Theatre, Volume One and the track “Every Night is Friday Night (Without You)” is the latest from alt-country stalwarts Old 97’s. Their enthusiasm and assertive riffing hearkens back to early melodic punk sprinkled with a bit of Tom Petty and is topped with transcendent vocal harmonies.
