Portrait of a Supercar: Jaguar XJL Supersport

When a car is only available via special order, you know it’s hot stuff. Allow me to introduce myself, the Jaguar XJL Supersport.

Complete with a 510 horsepower engine, crafted with the finest materials and detail, I’m the coup de grace of sports cars.

From the masculine grill to the sleek rear exposure of my dominant frame, the exterior construction of my torso speaks volumes about the engineers who painstakingly spent hours out of their busy lives to design my every inch. It has obviously paid off and will make you, and your passengers, look as if this car was made specifically for your liking.

The 20-inch Mataiva alloy wheels flash brilliance and the Xenon headlights with LED signatures and power washers light up the road for others to see this flashy beast purring by.

Then there’s the panoramic roof with electrically operated blinds, adaptive cruise control and a Bowers & Wilkins 1,200-watt surround sound system, built with a hard disk drive and media hub for the most pleasurable in-car experience you’ll ever have.

What exactly do I mean by media hub? Bring all your devices and plug them into me. There is a docking box in the front center console with various sockets for your gadgets.

A 12.3-inch screen with thin film transistor technology replaces your traditional instrument panel. With this, you can see the typical speed, rpm, distance and other key navigational information on a crisp and clear display module.

Along with a boisterous soirée of goodies to keep you occupied inside, comes 20/20 Semi Aniline leather seats with contrast piping, tonal stitching and embossed head restraints. They’re heated and cooled with massage functionality to keep you coming back for more.

Some other key perks: Rear business trays, illuminated rear vanity mirrors, manual rear side window blinds and an electric rear sunblind. I’m starting to get jealous of myself. If I could drive a car, I’d drive me.

To make it easier on your eyes, we’ve included a full color HD touchscreen navigation system. No more squinting to see small letters on your handheld GPS. That’s now how we roll at Jaguar.

Just in case you were wondering about colors—and don’t think my mood is different depending upon which shade you prefer—I come in two solid and 12 metallic paints. My spectrum blue is exclusive to the Supersport model.

Impressive technology and interior comfort aside, the 6-speed automatic transmission with Jaguar Sequential Shift technology will help guide and control your vehicle like never before.

There is a strikingly perfect balance between high-speed cruising and low speed reassurance with my model, which was officially available for purchase starting in fall 2010.

Ready to take the plunge from mediocre to magnificent? I thought so.
