Visited recently-opened artisanal cheese shop American Cheese in West Sayville on 12/4, following an informative afternoon homebrewing tour that covered Manhattan’s Upper East Side and Park Slope, Brooklyn.

Note: the above was also following a thirty-five minute wander-session around West Sayville to FIND American Cheese after arriving at the nearby Long Island Rail Road station because, well, Super Neat has no automobile, and a mobile device with no internet connection.

And no, I do not own a beeper.

American Cheese Owner Erin Nicosia was gracious enough to school me, a self-admitted ignoramus on cheese, while we paired various product with growlers of Southern Tier Choklat Imperial Stout and Imperial IPA Sierra Nevada Hopsichord from Bayport Beverage Center. We both seemed to agree that the victorious cheese, in terms of versatility and most bestest tasting with our two differing brews, was Kunik, a semi-aged, triple crème made with goat milk and Jersey cow cream from Nettle Meadow Farm in Thurman, New York.

Tasted like whipped lovemaking…as in whipped buttery goodness. Not like bondage. Well, maybe.
