Seniors Tom Compitello, Kevin Crowley, Jordan McBride and Adam Rand have each been named to the Tewaaraton Award watch list, the Greater Washington Sports Alliance.
Stony Brook, tied for the second most players on the list with Maryland, has its four preseason All-Americans and Major League Lacrosse draft picks on the watch list, according to the University.
Compitello, who did not play last week against Virginia, had an outstanding 2010. He tallied 37 goals and 35 assists after recording just 39 points during the previous two seasons. Compitello was drafted by the Boston Cannons with the 28th overall pick.
The Enners Award winner, given to the nation’s most outstanding Division I player, Crowley lived up to his preseason billing with a four-goal, one-assist effort against the Cavaliers in the season opener. Crowley, who was drafted by the Hamilton Nationals with the first overall pick in the MLL draft, is just 22 points shy of the school’s all-time record in points.
Stony Brook’s all-time leader in goals, McBride is the only player in Seawolves history to score at least 40 goals in three straight seasons. The 14th overall pick by the Rochester Rattlers, McBride is the active NCAA Division I leader with 134 goals.
After winning 17 face-offs against the Cavaliers last Saturday, Rand moved into sixth place all-time in NCAA Division I history in face-offs won with 626. The 31st overall pick of the draft by the Hamilton Nationals, Rand has a career face-off winning percentage of .604.
