Say hi to your mother.

Now say hi to Tap and Barrel, a new craft micropub located on Route 347 in Smithtown.

Owner Anthony Celentano, a craft beer enthusiast who has family in the Long Island pub scene (his aunt owns Katie Mc’s in Huntington Village), invited Super Neat to peep the space—formerly Caramel Lounge—and receive the establishment specifics prior to its birth; And peep we did, while sippin’ growler-style on some Long Trail Brewing Company Double Bag from Big Z Beverage.

During our visit, Celentano informed us of Tap and Barrel’s main centerpiece: a 52-line, flamed copper and brass draft tower constructed using authentic 1910-30’s steamfitting castings (a computer-simulated image is above). Currently being hand-made in Slovenia by former chemical industry machinery/present-day beer tower metal specialists Wayland Works, the structure measures 12′ in length and features 4 sets of 13 faucets. It is the most intricate tower Wayland Works has produced to date.

The official grand opening and welcoming of TITUS BEERTOWERUS is tentatively slated for Saturday, 3/26.

Expect Tap and Barrel’s full draft and bottle list next week.
