John Milnor

The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters has awarded SUNY Stony Brook professor John Milnor the $1 million Abel Prize. A mathematics professor and co-director of the Stony Brook University’s Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Milnor received the award “for pioneering discoveries in topology, geometry and algebra.” This prestigious award is generally viewed as the “mathematician’s Nobel Prize.” http://www.stonybrook.edu.
