If you’re looking for something to do after brunch on Sunday, head to the Vibe Lounge in Rockville Centre to hear some fresh faces on the pop rock music scene—along with locals like Dress2Impress, A Story Left Untold, Six Stories Told, For The Win, and Atlantic Meets Pacific. Modern-day pop rockers the After Party will also perform.
After graduating from high school in Kansas, where they were the only students interested in playing in a band, the After Party released “All the Wrong Places,” appeared on MTV’s Teen Cribs, and toured nationally with acts like Cartel and Allstar Weekend. Having recently released their second EP, the band is excited to embark on another national tour.
“Our latest EP, ‘The After Party,’ is a lot more Top 40 than our debut. We’re trying to bring back that boy band feel, but recreate it in a way that’s current and fresh,” notes drummer, Alan Bell. “And there’s nothing better than being on tour with bands that can get a bunch of kids packed into a room and totally kill it every single night.”
Members of the quartet—also including Kenny Greeley on vocals, Andy Bell on guitar, and Brandon Stewart on bass— were so passionate about music that they gave up college scholarships, and jobs, in pursuit of their dream. Influenced by 90’s boy bands, you might even hear a cover of NSYNC’s “I Want You Back” on Sunday.
“We like to get a little wild and crazy,” says Bell. “Expect to hear a lot from the new EP and a couple from the old. ‘Can’t Stop’ is a super fun song to play live. We open the set with it, and it just seems to get everyone jacked and ready for a fun time!”
