Seven Great Days

The sun’s going down on your weekend, watch it in style. The newly opened Pop’s Seafood Shack (Island Park) is the perfect pedigree of Island flair. Hammocks swinging from palm trees, fire pit lounge on the beach, a buffet of frozen drinks and live music. Boat up (40+ slips) or drive up, but step right up to get down to a chill Sunday night.

It’s still the weekend somewhere—keep riding that high…higher and higher. Fire Island Water Sports now offers kiteboarding for your extreme sports pleasure. The wind pulls you across the water while standing on a short board until finally, you take flight. Now that’s a jump-start on the week.

Never mind golf. Want to plan an outing with associates that is high-energy, challenging, fun, gets you outdoors and is a memorable bonding experience? Organize a sailing lesson. The Waterfront Center (Oyster Bay) is your starting point. Wild Honey (also OB) for snacks and sips is your ending.

Slow things down with a trip to the North Fork and taste the sweeter things. Visit the wineries, like Osprey’s Dominion (Peconic), where regular events and live music complement the gorgeous bucolic views and wine tastings. Have All Star Limo ferry you about, so you can imbibe safely and in style.

Take that special little person on a journey through science and art. Make for a fun show at John W. Engeman Theater (Northport) for the magic of the stage. Snacks? Discover the fun of fondue at The Melting Pot (Farmingdale).

While all the Manhattanites are heading east, take advantage of a night on the town. The House of Blue Leaves, starring Edie Falco and Ben Stiller, or Chris Rock’s The Motherf**ker with the Hat are a good start for superior theater. Head down to the Lower East Side to discover the gypsy-punk craze at places like Mehanata.

Do you Hamptons? Start by taking in the art at Parrish Art Museum (Southampton). Exhibits of American, in particular East End, art are joined by visiting exhibits and programs. Continue the artsy, sophisticated theme by cutting north to Frisky Oyster (Greenport) where imaginative cuisine meets cozy Metropolitan ambiance.
