While the apocalyptic, Lloyd Dobler-like precipitation that descended upon Long Island on Thursday may have intimidated walk-ups and other peoples, as total attendance was lower than previous years, those who did venture to the Bellport Country Club for the 4th Annual Charity Beer, Wine & Food Tasting Fundraiser were able to sample local craft beer, licensed and not-yet-licensed, produced from Red Hook to Greenport—and hella places in between.
Within the aforementioned geographical span, Barrier Brewing Company Gosilla, a cloudy mineral ocean and wheat metal gose (style origin: Goslar, Germany) brewed with coriander and sea salt, Greenport Harbor Brewing Company English IPA, and Spider Bite Brewing Company Big Bhut, a smoked pepper strong ale dry-hopped with an Assam Bhut Jolokia pepper, all received gold stars for their respective dopeness.
But let us not neglect to disclose the bestest tidbit from the 4th Annual Charity Beer, Wine & Food Tasting Fundraiser: over $6,000.00 was raised for Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck, Lighthouse Mission, and three student scholarships at Bellport High School.
