Effin Gruven hosts “Dogfish Head Bacchanalia,” a three-hour drankfest with Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Ales, on Thursday, 7/14 (8:00PM – 11:00PM).

According to reputable source Wikipedia, bacchanalia “were wild and mystic festivals of the Greco-Roman god Bacchus (or Dionysus), the wine god. The term has since come to describe any form of drunken revelry.”

Effin Gruven owner Joseph Dantona on “Dogfish Head Bacchanalia”:

“I’ve been buying and saving Dogfish Head kegs and bottles for about 9 months, hoping to do a Dogfish night. A couple of weeks ago I was in my walk-in looking at all the beer and I developed an overwhelming need to start drinking; so, you can say my desire to drink these beers pushed me into doing this event sooner rather than later.

I decided to make it a one price, drink ’em all event for $30 because I think some things should transcend commerce. Screw the money; sometimes it should be about the beer, and the fun of drinking stuff you won’t drink again or drink very often. I was lucky enough to get these rare beers in the first place, and I didn’t want to price them at $9 a snifter and sell them to a small percentage of my customers. I wanted all the people who come to Effin who enjoy great beer to be able to dive the f*ck in. These Dogfish beers don’t come around in draught every day, so let’s have fun, and drink some crazy beer.”
