Make-up on the go can be a tricky proposition, but I have found a few products that offer not only quality, but are also great for when you need to travel light.
Whether you like a dramatic or natural look, TouchBack BrowMarker is a great tool for enhancing your eyebrows. Unlike other pencils or brushes, the TouchBack has a soft but sharply-pointed tip, similar to a fine-point felt pen. It can be used in short strokes along the lines of the hairs to accentuate your natural brow and fill in any empty spots. Or it can be applied with a heavier hand for a more dramatic look. The shape of the tip allows for precise application and the color covers gray hairs. It’s long lasting, usually at least ten hours. The TouchBack comes in four colors to match your hair and you can find it online for about $20.
A new favorite mineral eyeshadow is Color Disc by Napoleon Perdis. The little square plastic compact comes with a disc of high-impact color. This pigment-rich shadow comes in over a dozen colors in sparkle, shimmer, matte and metallic finishes. The formula is easy to blend, lasts until you wash it off and a little goes a long way. It’s especially portable, since the compact comes with an applicator and little mirror inside the lid. Available online for about $22 and many Napoleon Perdis products are now available at Target.
Jane Iredale, the first to act on the benefits of mineral make-up, has a great kit called My Steppes. Flip the top lid of the round stack and find two pots of lip gloss and a mirror. Swivel the middle section out and you have a blush. The bottom section holds a bronzer. This kit makes touch-ups on the go easy and is great for when you want to travel light. You can choose between Warm My Steppes or Cool My Steppes with coordinated colors to suit your skin tone. All Jane Iredale products contain no oil, talc, FD&C dyes, synthetic preservatives, parabens or fragrance, so they are gentle on sensitive skin. And what’s great about mineral make-up is that it lets your skin breath and helps protect against damage from UV rays. $58 online or at a variety of salons around the Island.
