Simeon Melman

17-year-old West Hills resident Simeon Melman, a Junior Volunteer in the Intensive Care Unit at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, administered first aid for six straight hours to badly mauled friends after a grizzly bear attack in the Alaskan wilderness. For his efforts in utilizing the medical training he received at Good Samaritan, Melman was awarded the “Helping Hands, Caring Hearts” award.
