After a record-breaking season, junior Miguel Maysonet (Riverhead, N.Y.) has been named the Big South Offensive Player of the Year, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon. He headlines nine Seawolves to earn all-conference honors.
Maysonet’s second season with the Seawolves was outstanding. He rushed for 1,485 yards and 15 touchdowns, both single-season school records. He recorded eight 100-yard games, including a 194-yard effort against Lafayette and seven games with 140 or more yards. Stony Brook’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns with 27, Maysonet has totaled 2,613 yards in 22 games, which ranks fifth all-time in Big South history and third in school history.
Maysonet scored four touchdowns in a game twice this season, becoming the only player in conference history to do so. Having already broken the Stony Brook single-season record for yards, Maysonet is 16 shy of breaking the Big South record, held by former Liberty running back and current Jacksonville Jaguar Rashad Jennings.
