While First Bite Pale Ale, Boris The Spider, and Robert’s Spider Wee Heavy poured from Breukelen Bier Merchant’s 14-tap presentation, Larry Goldstein, brewmaster of Spider Bite Beer Company, sampled three ghost bottles: Robert and Johnnie, a variation of Robert’s Spider Wee Heavy using oak soaked in Johnnie Walker Black Label and Jack Daniels; a musty, dry-graped, four-year zinfandel lambic; and a witbier brewed with WLP670 American Farmhouse Blend, a Belgian-style yeast strain with Brettanomyces.
