Central Islip alum Andrew Tiller is the latest Long Island product to be drafted by an NFL team.
The Syracuse offensive lineman was selected in the sixth round – 179th overall – by the New Orleans Saints. Tiller, who was named the 2006 Zellner Award winner as the top lineman in Suffolk County, lettered for three years under former Saints offensive coordinator Doug Marrone for the Orange.
After a mediocre junior year at Central Islip, Tiller because a threat on the line as a senior. He was named All-State and All-County in 2006.
Tiller spent a year at Nassau County Community College before playing at Syracuse.
Tiller joins a long list of former Long Island players to go to the NFL, including Vinny Testaverde, Boomer Esiason, Rob Moore, Jim Brown, John Mackey, Jumbo Elliott, D’Brickashaw Ferguson and many others.
