Long Island Art Takes to the Street

Many Long Islanders really want to be a part of the unique art and culture our island has to offer, but aren’t sure where to go and what to do. If this sounds like you, here’s a chance to get a lot of cultural bang for your buck. October 21st is Patchogue’s fifth annual Arts Festival, billed as “a free day of art, poetry and music throughout Patchogue.”

Start your day in the lobby of the historic Patchogue Theatre, where you will get to meet local artists featured in this year’s Walking Arts Tour. You can also pick up a map of the art exhibitions available for viewing around town. The Walking Arts Tour is a self-guided artsy walkabout, and on the 21st, local street musicians stationed around the village will provide the soundtrack.

The day closes back at the Theatre with a late-afternoon concert of music and poetry. This year’s concert is “Long Island Uncovered” and will feature local performers staging their own material as well as those of others. patchoguearts.org.
