Curious and Careless

teenagers
bloodshot eyes
Flinging vowels into the world
she forgave his sins
in the rise of her breath
he wished he could write songs
or play drums
but none of this has anything to do with anything
he has the girl from the north country in his heart
elvis in his hips
the cadillac’s outside baby
she says yeaaaaah
i got a full tank of gas and a hot pair of shoes
the moon pulls them into
the empty barking of the night
and sea dirt
and the contemplation of the meaning of life
in the vacant strums of a guitar
