Love’s a cup that’s always full
But with you I’m not so sure
A relentless push and pull
While we look for what’s still pure
From “Space and Time” by Sons of the Sea
Activist, environmentalist, surfer, artist, musician and author, Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd will discuss and sign his third book, “So the Echo,” and his new solo record, “Sons of the Sea,” at Barnes and Noble in Tribeca on Monday, September 30th. “So the Echo” is a compilation of Boyd’s collages, watercolors, ink drawings, photography and writing from the past four years. Recalling the art of Aubrey Beardsley, Boyd’s work features whimsical figures.
And “Sons of the Sea” is the debut full-length from Boyd’s musical project of the same name. Co-written and produced by Brendan O’Brien (Incubus, Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam), “Sons of the Sea” features Boyd’s introspective lyrics merging, according to USA Today, “the sounds of the Beach Boys and Henry Nilsson” with his trademark alt-rock sound. Pianos, strings, synths and harmonies give the songs a surf-pop edge.
You can travel through space and time with Boyd, who uses art as a tool for activism, when he comes to B&N to discuss his creative projects on Monday at 6pm in Tribeca.
