Hello to all my handsome gents. Looking and feeling good is just as important to us as it is to women. Especially now in the competitive and social world we live in, having a manicured yet masculine appearance is everything. With a healthy image you will feel more confident in your professional roles and more attractive to those you desire as well. However for the men it can be an awkward situation because it’s a female dominated world and you can feel out of place. I ask you to not fear it and to be a man about beauty.
Cleansing & Breakouts
Male skin is often plagued with spontaneous and disruptive breakouts due to poor cleansing and unbalanced hydration levels. When consulting with the everyday man I am surprised to hear that many of you are still cleansing with a simple bar of soap. There are several options available that are more beneficial for your skin. Soap can strip moisture which will actually make you more oily throughout the day. Contrary to what most people think, oil is produced when your skin is dry. Basically, if you can feel your face after washing then there is a chance whatever you are using is stealing the moisture from your face. I had the opportunity to try a new line and it has provided me with outstandingly clear and balanced skin. A friend and Mary Kay beauty consultant, Deborah Scalcione introduced me to their line, Clearproof. I was having issues with random breakouts and she recommended the cleansing gel and spot treatment due to the strong dose of non-irritating salicylic acid great for clearing a face breakout very quickly, especially on male skin which is typically more stubborn. I am always open minded with new brands and gave it a try. It was exactly what I needed. The cleanser kept my face fresh and within 48 hours my bothersome stress pimple had reduced to almost nothing thanks to the spot treatment which accompanied the cleanser. It is always a good idea to have a spot treatment on hand to bust breakouts away before an important meeting or romantic encounter.
Hair is sexy in some places and in others not. I think every guy, if offered a permanent solution to unwanted hair would opt for if they knew how easy it was. For a long time I was and still am plagued with hair in unwanted areas. Not until the age of 32 did I fully commit to permanent hair loss by getting laser treatments. I was incredibly pleased with the results and in a reasonable amount of time. There are no limits to where they can go, they can even remove the hair we have on our necks and hairline. I asked my personal esthetician SImran Katyal to give me some advice to share when it comes to shopping around for laser hair removal. She says the treatments are sometimes out of someone’s budget so men will go with the lowest rate they can find and not be satisfied with the results. The unfavorable results are due to the quality and strength of the machine, you get what you pay for. Laser hair removal equipment can be very expensive so some select lower quality machines to save money. Simran says be prepared to pay $150 plus per treatments and expect 6-8 treatments if you wish for optimal results.
To all you beasts out there. I have a message from the ladies and men in construction or some other rough-and-tumble profession listen more intently. Get a manicure and pedicure every six weeks. Why six weeks? You won’t do it every four weeks but you need to do it at least every 8 weeks. Plenty of gentlemen know the benefits of manicured feet and hands. For the guys it is more about hygiene rather than vanity. If you are plagued with those painful cuticle cracks or ingrown to nails I can guarantee they will be dramatically reduced if you hang out with the ladies at the nail salon for just 30 minutes. Ask your friends and family for a good place and let them know you were referred it makes a difference because they appreciate the business and you.
So gents I could go on and on and I know I haven’t touched on all the topics but it is just the beginning of my attempt to get your ear. If you’re concerned about looking older or want to be more attractive in general, changing just one or two habits when it comes to personal care will make a substantial difference. A little goes a long way with us guys. Feel free to forward me any questions you may have and I will be happy to answer.
