Liner Notes with Andrew Fortier
Pulse: Your music pulls together a diverse blend of pop, folk and jazz elements. What musicians influenced you?
Andrew Fortier: When I was starting out, it was all about seventies singer songwriters like Harry Chapin and Joni Mitchell, but it wasn’t long before I discovered my all-time favorite songwriter, Tom Waits. Once, an A&R director at Chrysalis records critiqued my songs as being similar to Tom Waits’ music except for the fact that I sang in a beautiful voice.
