May is winding down and that can only mean one thing. Everyone is about to get a lot busier. Before you know it, you’re calendar is going to be full of weddings to attend, BBQs to cook at and days spent trying to get to the beach. So, enjoy these last couple of leisurely weekends when you can wake on a Saturday morning with the whole day to decide what it is you’re going to do. To make sure you don’t spend the entire day planning though, here are three can’t miss events for this weekend.
Grace Weber at The Rockwood Music Hall
WHEN/WHERE: Friday, May 30, 8 p.m., at the Rockwood Music Hall.
WHY GO: Head into the city to hear Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Grace Weber. O.K., you’ve probably already heard her at Starbucks, or on NPR, but now you can see her perform.
Free Adoption Weekend
WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1 noon to 5 p.m. at Little Shelter Animal Rescue, 33 Warner Road Huntington, NY.
WHY GO: There are pets looking for homes such as Durango, and if you’ve been thinking of getting a dog or a cat adoptions are free this weekend at the Little Shelter Animal Rescue. Adoptions include spray/neuter and a microchip.
The Peony Path Tour
WHEN/WHERE: Sunday, June 1, 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Sagtikos Manor, Montauk Highway and Manor Lane West Bay Shore, NY.
WHY GO: It’s spring. Enjoy the season with a private tour of Sagtikos Manor’s walled garden while learning about the restoration efforts going on at the manor.
PRICING: $10 per adult, and $8 per senior in advance. $12 day of.
