Recipe: Blueberry Belmont

Place your bets for the Belmont Stakes. The third leg of the Triple Crown and the chance for California Chrome to become only the 12th horse in history to win the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes comes on Saturday, June 7.

To mark the third leg of the Triple Crown, Marble Modern American Steakhouse bar manager Doug Brickel and chef Matt Corbett created a delicious blueberry cocktail and they’ve shared the recipe with us.

Fresh blueberries, thyme from Corbett’s garden and Lucky Dog Vodka, which launched on Long Island last summer make up the Blueberry Belmont.

Blueberry Belmont
14 Fresh blueberries
2 sprigs thyme, 1 to muddle and 1 to garnish
3 oz Lucky Dog Vodka
1 1/4 oz Simple syrup
3/4 oz Fresh lemon juice
1/4 oz Fresh lime juice
1 dash Peach bitters

Muddle 12 blueberries, thyme and bitters in a pint glass. Add the ice, vodka, simple syrup and citrus. Shake vigorously and strain over fresh ice in a double sized old fashioned glass. Garnish with the remaining thyme sprig and blueberries. Serve immediately.
