Lights Resolve of Lawrence, New York is about to release their second album. Their first album, “Feel Your Different,” was produced, mixed and engineered on Long Island by Mike Sapone and released in October 2011. Members of the band including Matthew Reich (guitarist and vocals), Luke Daniels (Bass) and Neal Saini (drums) spoke to Pulse Insider about their writing process for the new album and the band’s future.
Pulse Insider: How did you get your start?
Lights Resolve: We all came out of another Long Island band. Our singer quit so I started singing and we continued on as a three piece.
Pulse Insider: What or who are your greatest influences?
Lights Resolve: We are influenced most by artists who actually stand for something and help the musical world progress (U2, The Beatles, Tom Petty, Nirvana, etc.)
Pulse Insider: How would you describe your music to someone you just met?
Lights Resolve: Alternative rock with noise and pop
Pulse Insider: What was your inspiration and goal for your most recent work?
Lights Resolve: We are currently at the end of the writing process for our record. Inspiration came from listening to the work of the greatest songwriters in the world and learning how they were able to capture lightning in a bottle lyrically and musically. It was a combination of that observatory process and also just having fun, creating interesting vibes and most importantly exciting each other with a guitar riff, a beat or a vocal.
Pulse Insider: Tell us your hometown, and where you are now.
Lights Resolve: We are from Lawrence, NY and now some of us are in NYC and some are in Eastern LI. Our rehearsal space is still in Lawrence!
Pulse Insider: Are there any other details you’d like to share with readers?
Lights Resolve: Please feel free to check out our latest LP and our Eps that are currently out. We are really excited for you to hear what we have been working on this past year; new music should start popping up towards the end of the year, if not sooner.
