Three Can’t Miss Events: Aug. 7 to 10

The best of the area’s food trucks are rolling over to the Hayground School for Edible East End’s annual Great Food Truck Derby on Friday, Aug. 8 from 4 to 7pm. More than 20 food trucks will be in attendance providing an evening of mobile eats and regional wine, craft beer and juices. Tickets cost $65 and include one serving at every food truck and complimentary beverages.

Block Challenge 2014
As the sun rises a six-hour paddle will begin on the north side of the Montauk Lighthouse. Paddlers in kayaks, outrigger canoes and paddleboarders will paddle to the end of Champlin’s Marina. Then, from 1 to 5pm a celebration of the paddle accomplishment will take place. To participate all paddlers must register by Thursday, Aug. 7 and raise at least $1,500, which will go to a number of local charities including The Retreat’s, The Montauk Playhouse Community Center and buildOn. South Shore Music Festival
Celebrate the Long Island music community at the South Shore Music Festival. The festival from noon to 12 am on Saturday, Aug. 9, showcases independent Long Island musicians and artists on two different stages.
