Lubricoma Set to Release New Album

Charlie Adrianus Parks, Nick Formont, Lou Panariello and John Rivera are just four guys from Long Island doing what they love in their band, Lubricoma. The band, who described their music as both powerful and raw just played a big show at the Emporium in Patchogue and with an EP set to release very soon they’re gaining recognition from around the world. Pulse Insider talked to lead singer, Parks to learn more about Lubricoma.

Pulse Insider: How did you get your start in music?
Charlie Adrianus Parks:
I’ve been playing guitar and attempting to sing probably since I was 12-years-old. I’ve been writing music since I was 13 and writing songs and playing cover bands pretty early. Lubricoma itself was formed in 2007/2008. Nick and I had been writing a vast amount of songs and we intended to have someone to arrange for a recording because we wanted to make a CD. I was in an acting conservatory at the time but I realized that our writing was awesome.

Pulse Insider: How did you come up with the name Lubricoma?
CAP:
We came up with Lubricoma because it’s very interpretive. It’s broad, powerful, sexual and spiritual. It’s not meant to be necessarily concrete were you can apply it to your own situation. It’s meant to stimulate you mentally and emotionally and it means something different to everyone.

Pulse Insider: Who/what are your greatest musical influences?
CAP:
The first thing that comes to mind is David Bowie. I was actually having a conversation with myself yesterday about how David Bowie never said to himself “let’s play it safe.” That’s really admirable. He started out his career very poppy, he dabbles in rock, and now he’s in his 60s and 70s making industrial music. My other musical influences are Pink Floyd, Nine Inch Nails and Led Zeppelin.

Pulse Insider: How would you describe your music to someone you just met?
CAP:
I would say it’s very raw, powerful and certainly sexual. There are certainly ups and downs. We’re not a soft band and we’re not playing the same loud metal for 30-45 minutes for a show. I think people have trouble describing us because we’re all doing a different thing. Lou likes punkier stuff, Nick is classic rock, John loves metal and I like grunge.

Pulse Insider: What’s in store for Lubricoma in the next three months?
CAP:
Well we just played a huge show at the Emporium in Patchogue. It was really special. We have a couple shows coming up that we’re still negotiating. We have some CD release parties and we have a fully developed EP coming out. We’re going to get back into the studio, we’ve been working on new material and we’ve had people from other countries we’ve never even been to before reaching out to us on Facebok that are fans of the music which is really awesome.

Pulse Insider: Tell us your hometown, where you live now and whatever biographical details you’d like to share.
CAP:
I’m from Oceanside, Nick is from Rockville Centre, and Lou and John are from Franklin Square. There’s not much to share about the music scene in these towns. Nick and I actually went to school together. Lou is the foundation of the band and probably the greatest drummer anyone could play with. John is the newest member. He’s fantastic, so talented, and brings so much to the band. Nick does so many amazing things while holding down the band.

Lubricoma is made up of Charlie Adrianus Parks on vocals and guitars, Nick Formont on bass guitars, Lou Panariello on drums and percussion and John Rivera on guitars. Check them out on ReverbNation and Sound Cloud and like them on Facebook.
