How Many Cups of Coffee Are Too Many?

There can be a perfect balance between the amount of caffeine consumed on a daily basis and optimal attention and focus throughout the day. Studies say that exceeding four cups of coffee daily can be detrimental in the long term due to excess stimulant circulating in the blood stream. My recommendations are to never exceed more than two, with one cup of coffee usually offering enough energy to keep you powered through your morning.

500 milligrams of caffeine daily is allowable without any evidence of risk. One cup of coffee on average contains about 100 mg, while a toxic amount is about 10 grams, or 100 cups! It’s important to remember that caffeine is one of the most popular psychoactive substances we ingest- its chemical nature has the ability to create a desired mood or function in the body. For this reason, drinking more than 1-2 cups daily in my opinion is counterproductive; at one point you will become sensitized to its effects and effectiveness will decrease.
