Three-year board member for the Long Island Music Hall of Fame Ernie Canadeo was recently named the organization’s new chairman. Canadeo has a long history within the local music, advertising and non-profit business communities. In addition to LIMHF, he also sits on the board of The Long Island Association, the Thomas Hartman Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and The United Way of Long Island among others. In 2011 he was named Entrepreneur of the Year by Advancement for Commerce, Industry and Technology, and he was awarded Long Island Man of the Year in 2008 by the Suffolk Community Council.
He is the president and CEO of Melville-based advertising agency The EGC Group, which he founded in 1985 after leaving a successful career as an ad manager for RCA Records. The company is the largest advertising and digital marketing company on Long Island. In 2012 Canadeo founded the Long Island Digital Summit, an event that brings together hundreds of attendees from the nation’s top digital advertising and marketing companies. LIMHF named Canadeo chairman in anticipation of the organization’s expansion, which includes building its first museum. Canadeo was instrumental in securing the site, set to open in late 2016 in Wyandanch Village in the Town of Babylon.
