Don’t Miss Out on National Grilled Cheese Month

Happy National Grilled Cheese Month! We’re not sure who comes up with these things, but we’ll play along. Gooey, delicious and oh-so-simple, the classic sandwich has us nostalgic for childhood. We’d like to take a lunch or two or three to honor the beauty that is the grilled cheese sandwich. Read on for three of yours and our favorite places to get a grilled cheese sandwich on Long Island. And if we happened to miss your favorite grilled cheese spot, please add it in to the comments.

Tullulah’s, Bay Shore

Pay homage to the grilled cheese sandwich at Tullulah’s in Bay Shore. Their grilled cheese comes with brie, apple cider caramelized onions and poached apples on whole grain bread and with the option to add pork belly.

Post Office Café, Babylon

Bacon makes everything better. This the chefs at Babylon’s Post Office Cafe must know, as both their grilled cheese sandwiches come with bacon. Order the Classic Grilled Cheese, which comes with American cheese, applewood bacon and tomato. For those that love goat cheese, the North Fork Grilled Cheese comes with rocket arugula, goat cheese, roasted tomatoes and applewood bacon on seven grain rustic bread.

C’est Cheese, Port Jefferson

Seven different grilled cheese sandwiches mean there is something for every cheese lover’s taste at Port Jefferson’s C’est Cheese. Fancy some brie, apple and honey? Order the Parisian. Go a bit more rustic with smoked mozzarella, prosciutto di parma and sundried tomato pesto on The Scamorza Grilled Cheese or try The Capra Griller with fresh goat cheese, fig preserve and watercress on wheat. Plus, there’s always The Classic, which comes with lots of melted cheddar and nothing else. A whole month is needed to sample them all.
