The Trendy Owl at 10 Washington Ave. is warm and inviting. The kind of place that makes it easy to linger in, taking the time to pick out the perfect shirt or pair of earrings. It’s the type of boutique where you’ll discover new brands and become reacquainted with old favorites.
The two close friends met in the retail world and dreamed of opening a store all their own for years. When the former store at 10 Washington Ave. closed after 30 years, they quickly realized they could make their dream a reality.
Reclaimed wooden furniture handcrafted by Perrotta’s dad displays the clothing and accessories the women handpick for their boutique.
When they’re out hunting for clothes, they concentrate on finding items for different ages and tastes, and it’s just as easy to find a brand from Australia in the story as it is to find a piece designed and made on Long Island. Prices range from anywhere from $40 to $300, with the average top costing about $70 to $80.
“We wanted it to a be a place a mom and daughter could shop together,” Wall said.
The Trendy Owl opened several months ago but an official grand opening is being planned for May.
“We don’t feel like we’re working. We so happy to be here and love when we pick something out that someone finds and makes them happy,” Wall said.
