The Birthplace of the American Cowboy

No, we have not changed our name to Wyoming Pulse Magazine. The oldest cattle ranch in the United States and self-proclaimed birthplace of the American Cowboy is in Montauk County Park. Deep Hollow Ranch was founded in 1658.

Today, the ranch offers pony rides and parties, a camp for children ages 7 to 12 and Western-style trail rides through the breathtaking, pristine coastline.

The theme is Western, but this ain’t the desert. Deep Hallow Ranch is a mere five-minute walk to the beach and is surrounded by hundreds of state and county parkland that has been preserved.

The ranch boasts some high-end neighbors, too, including the legendary Paul Simon, who helped produce several “Back at the Ranch” concerts to raise money for local charities. Billy Joel has performed there. So have Ray Charles, Jimmy Buffet and James Taylor.

Deep Hollow Ranch has been owned by Catherine and Patrick Keogh since 2012. The couple actually met on the ranch and got married next door years ago. Their children, Francesa, Broudy and Rohan, all lend a hand.
