Blue Nile Opens First Retail Location

See, touch and feel Blue Nile jewelry at the online retailer’s first brick and mortar location now open in Roosevelt Field Mall.

Blue Nile has been one of the world’s leading online diamond jewelers for more than 15 years, but the retailer was missing out on clients that wanted an in-real-life experience. At the newly opened 325-square foot store, clients can now try on 400 styles from the jeweler’s exclusive lines and work with in-store consultants to build their own ring.

“We’re so excited to be here,” Blue Nile Store Manager Terri Shaw said.

While small, the store on the main level of the mall is welcoming with a wall of display cases, bright lighting and several chairs to relax in and maybe ponder that big purchase. Clients will find exclusive bridal jewelry from designers that include Colin Cowie, Zac Posen and Monique Lhuillier, but the store also carries classic diamond studs, pendants and other fine jewelry.

“They can choose the stone, setting and we create it,” Shaw said.

After the success of pop-up displays of Blue Nile jewelry in Nordstroms in Seattle and Roosevelt Field, the online retailer decided it was time to open a brick and mortar store.

“Some clients feel the need for hands-on shopping, and it’s very important for us to offer a great experience, where there’s no pressure and no-risk,” Shaw said.

After coming into a store, clients can decide to purchase from the store or go back home and order from the comfort of their own home either by phone or online. If they are unhappy with a purchase, it’s fully refundable.

Blue Nile at Roosevelt Field is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 9:30pm and Sundays, 11am to 7pm.
