Enter the World of ‘Secrets and Wives’ Star Andi Black

Andi Black isn’t afraid to bring up taboo topics on Bravo Media’s Secrets and Wives. The former back-up singer for Jay and the Americans said her own emotional turmoil has made her want to always help others. “I’m always there for my girls,” Black said. Here she shares what’s she looking forward to on the show, about summer and her favorite Long Island places.

Long Island Pulse: Why did you decide to be part of Secrets and Wives?
Andi Black: Friends are the family that you choose and so I wanted to be involved in something with my closest girls and to do something that would help other women. I think the show shows that you can have adversity in your life and you can get through it. We’re all relatable and it doesn’t matter how much money you have.

Secrets & Wives - Season 1Pulse: What should we look forward to on the show from you?
AB: You’ll see I’m always there for my girls. I’ve been through so much emotional turmoil so I’m just trying to be there for my friends and also to have fun. We have a lot of fun.

Pulse: What makes the North Shore special for you?
AB: I grew up on Roslyn. I did live in Manhattan and on the South Shore, but to me there’s no place like the North Shore. It’s like having the nightlife of the city and living in beautiful surroundings.

Pulse: Where’s your go-to place to eat on the North Shore?
AB: I love to eat at 388 Restaurant and Lounge. It’s very family oriented, family-style Italian. My kids literally grew up at 388.

Pulse: What about your go-to place to shop?
AB: Americana. The Americana Manhasset is the only place in the US that rivals Rodeo Drive.

Pulse: What are you looking forward to about this summer?
AB: We rented a house in Montauk, so I’m looking forward to that. It’s a great getaway. I get to spend all that time with my kids and my love. It’s an amazing summer to do that.

Pulse: What are some of your go-to places in the Hamptons
AB: We like to go to Gurney’s during the day. There’s a DJ and music. I love to go to Ditch Plains Beach. It’s a surfer beach and I’m not a surfer but I love to watch.

Pulse: What’s your must-have beach bag item?
AB: A cover-up. I’m over 50. I’m not able to run around in a bikini like I use to.
