3 Spray-On Tips for Summer Beauty

The backdrop to your summer Instagram photos is sun, sand and sea. You need beauty products that are just as au natural. Ones that protect your face, soothe you when you forget to and give you easy-does-it beach waves. You also need a way to apply them quickly, without getting sticky product all over your hands because your beach towel was meant for lounging on while getting your summer reading in. Spray bottles are the perfect solution. Using them is as easy as 1-2-3, that is, fill, shake and mist. Use these tips all summer long for an Instagram-ready face and hair. Are you all loving the spray-on thing? Try these four products we recommended in the July/August issue.

No More Tears: When applying sprayable sunscreen to the face, liberally spray one side of a round, flat foam foundation sponge, leaving an edge without product. Grasping the sponge by that edge, bring it to the face and gently rub, making sure to apply the sunscreen to the cheeks, forehead, lips, and nose. Because the lotion never touches the hands, accidental transfer will be prevented, and the dreaded eye-stinging will be avoided.

Natural Homemade Remedy: Fill an 8oz spray bottle with distilled water, add 8 drops of lavender essential oil and gently shake. Set the dial to a fine mist and liberally spritz body and face. The calming property of lavender instantly soothes sunburn. Additionally, try spraying the solution onto your pillow case for a restful night’s sleep.

Catch Waves without the Beach: Here’s a way to achieve those beachy hair waves without stepping foot on the sand. Take a 3.4oz spray bottle, the type used for traveling, fill it half-way with tap water. Separately—pour another 1.5oz of water into a glass, add a teaspoon of sea salt and a teaspoon of liquefied coconut oil—stir. With a funnel, add mixture to the bottle. Next, spray the formula on damp hair, scrunching with hands. The salt delivers crisp waves, while the coconut oil keeps hair from drying out.
