
Former Top Chef contestant Spike Mendelsohn has made a name for himself making casual, comfort food gourmet. This recipe for spicy salami pizza is no exception. Full of spices such as chili flakes, cilantro, parsley and even a dash of orange this pizza will fill your home with mouth-watering smells while it’s cooking and is an easy appetizer that allows nibbling on gooey delicious cheese, topped with salami before a main course.
Spicy Salami Pizza Recipe

Serves 6
Ingredients
1 lb. store-bought sliced salami
2 14.5oz cans of Peeled Roma Tomatoes
1 tablespoon chili flakes
1 bunch of cilantro (cleaned and chopped)
1 bunch of parsley (cleaned and chopped)
Zest of 1 lemon
Zest of 1 lime
Zest of 1 orange
1 lb. mozzarella
Extra virgin olive oil for seasoning
Directions
Spicy Sauce
Add Roma tomatoes into the a blender.
Add chili flakes and season with olive oil, salt and pepper.
Pulse the blender a couple of times until evenly chopped (some chunkiness is good).
Pizza Gremolata
Add cilantro, parsley and zest of 1 lemon, 1 lime and 1 orange into a food processor. Season with salt and pepper and pulse adding a little olive oil to blend.
Mozzarella
Cut into small pieces and shred in a food processor.
Assembling the Spicy Salami Pizza
Stretch the pizza dough out thin and round (Use a rolling pin if necessary).
Spread chunky tomato sauce all the way to the edge leaving room for a little crust.
Use as much sauce as needed.
Generously spread salami all over the pizza.
Cook the pizza in the 5 Minute Black & Decker Pizza Oven & Snack Maker or in your regular oven until golden brown and crispy.
After pizza is cooked, garnish with the gremolata and serve.
