Royal Pains to film in Cove Neck

Rejoice, Royal Pains fans. You’ll have a chance to spy Dr. Hank Lawson and company on the North Shore once again. The USA Network show began filming the show’s eighth season at a private Cove Neck residence Tuesday, July 14 after the Cove Neck Village Board approved filming permits for the hit series.

Royal Pains actually takes place in the Hamptons but has filmed on the North Shore since hitting the small screen in 2008. The reason is one all East Enders will understand: the show shoots between Memorial Day and Labor Day, so traffic would make filming in the Hamptons too difficult, executive producer Andrew Lenchewski told Newsday in an email.

“The Gold Coast is the perfect place for us to film, as it doubles quite convincingly for the Hamptons,” he said.

The show has also filmed in Oheka Castle, Sands Point, Roslyn, Great Neck and Glen Cove. The seventh season of Royal Pains, which is airing now, also shot some scenes at a private Glen Cove residence last month.
