3 Long Island Restaurants Plan New Openings

The George Martin Restaurant Group, owned by George Korten, continues to expand its empire. The team that brought Burger Bar to Rockville Centre’s main drag opened a second location in Massapequa on Merrick Road in August. The unpretentious eatery serves up a whole lot of options between two buns, in addition to several non-burger choices.

Long Island’s highly rated Mexican Restaurant Besito will open in West Islip this fall. It will be the third Long Island location for the expanding brand, which also has locations in Connecticut, two in Massachusetts and one most recently in Florida. Besito will open in the former Nonninas on Montauk Highway off the Robert Moses Causeway. The new spot will offer fresh margaritas, authentic cuisine and the same teams found in the Huntington and Roslyn venues. The design will feature the tallest candle-wall ever housed at a Besito, two warmly lit dining rooms located on two separate floors, an expanded bar area and a deck with ample space for outdoor dining.

Del Fuego East in Patchogue is the third Tex-Mex restaurant by the DeNicola Concept Group, following the two in St. James and Babylon. The group has been delivering Tex-Mex fare alongside traditional housemade Mexican cuisine since October 2011. The walls in the Patchogue location are adorned with colorful collages rendered by a local artist, fi tting for the South Shore village’s artsy vibe. Executive chef and co-owner Joseph DeNicola created the menu that features unique takes on Tex-Mex classics in addition to American standards.
